Spacex and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that he personally owns bitcoin, ethereum, and dogecoin. Meanwhile, his companies, Spacex and Tesla, own bitcoin. He also said that bitcoin\u2019s energy usage \u201cis shifting a lot more toward renewables,\u201d and Tesla will likely resume accepting the cryptocurrency after he does more due diligence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elon\u2019s Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin<\/h2>\n

The Bitcoin event \u201cB Word,\u201d which took place Wednesday, featured a live discussion with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon musk, Square and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood. The discussion was moderated by Steve Lee, head of Square Crypto.<\/p>\n

Responding to the question of what influenced his view on bitcoin, Musk began by outlining the benefits of the cryptocurrency. Tesla\u2019s Technoking<\/a>, who wore an evolution of money t-shirt during the live discussion, then said, \u201cIt\u2019s got a lot of potential.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emphasizing, \u201cI\u2019m not an investor,\u201d Musk said that the only significant publicly traded stocks he owns are the Tesla and Spacex stocks. He continued:<\/p>\n

Apart from that, I do own bitcoin. Tesla owns bitcoin. Spacex owns bitcoin \u2026 And I personally own a bit of ethereum and dogecoin.<\/p>\n

Musk affirmed, \u201cIn general, I am a supporter of bitcoin,\u201d emphasizing, \u201cThe bitcoin I own is worth a lot more than ethereum or doge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indicating that he doesn\u2019t believe in selling after helping to boost prices, he opined:<\/p>\n

If the price of bitcoin goes down, I lose money \u2026 I might pump but I don\u2019t dump \u2026 I would like to see bitcoin succeed.<\/p>\n

Turning to the subject of Tesla halting acceptance<\/a> of bitcoin, Musk explained that the suspension was temporary<\/a>. He confirmed: \u201cWe are not selling any bitcoin, nor am I selling it personally, nor is Spacex selling any bitcoin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding Bitcoin\u2019s energy usage, Musk conceded: \u201cIt looks like Bitcoin is shifting a lot more toward renewables and a bunch of the heavy-duty coal plants that were being used \u2026 have been shut down, especially in China.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI want to do a little more due diligence to confirm that the percentage of renewable energy usage is most likely at or above 50% and that there is a trend toward increasing that number,\u201d elaborating:<\/p>\n

If so, Tesla will most likely resume accepting bitcoin.<\/p>\n
