The 24-year-old running back for the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley, discussed converting his endorsement revenue into bitcoin during a recent interview with the Morgan Creek Digital co-founder Anthony Pompliano.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Inflation Concerns Push Saquon Barkley Toward Bitcoin<\/h2>\n<p>Saquon Barkley is taking his marketing money and transferring it into bitcoin (<a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\">BTC<\/a>) according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZhmrfAtgNlo\">interview<\/a> he had with Anthony Pompliano on the show \u201cThe Best Business Show.\u201d Barkley\u2019s interview also featured the CEO of the company Strike, Jack Mallers, and the NFL running back said Mallers helped educate him on the technology. The football player said he will be directly depositing his marketing money into his Strike account in order to convert to <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\">BTC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Saquon Barkley says he got into bitcoin after researching inflation.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that Barkley makes around eight figures ($10 million) annually from his marketing endorsements. The NFL player has endorsement deals with Toyota, Pepsi, Campbell Soup Company, Nike, and Panini America, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/giants\/2019\/09\/giants-saquon-barkley-is-about-to-come-bursting-into-your-life-behind-the-scenes-look-at-how-a-tv-star-is-born.html\">NJ.com<\/a> data. Barkley told Pompliano that he studied how inflation was affecting the economy and that because of inflation\u2019s negative effects on wealth accumulation, he\u2019s moving toward bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re seeing inflation and we\u2019re learning you can\u2019t save wealth. That\u2019s why I am going to be taking my marketing money in bitcoin,\u201d Barkley said on the show. \u201cWhen you see the KDs, the Lebrons, and [Tom] Bradys of the world, and you want to create generational wealth, you can\u2019t do that with the sport that I play\u2026and coming off of injuries. When you sit out of football for a whole year, you realize that this game could be taken away from you,\u201d the NFL running back stressed.<\/p>\n<p><!-- growjs zone placement 31 -->    <!-- end of growjs zone placement --> <\/p>\n<h2>Giants\u2019 Running Back Follows a Great Number of Professional Athletes Turning to Bitcoin<\/h2>\n<p>Barkley is not the only NFL player who has converted funds into bitcoin (<a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\">BTC<\/a>) as the Carolina Panthers offensive lineman, Russell Okung, turned half of his salary into bitcoin. When <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\">BTC<\/a> was nearing all-time highs it was <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/paid-in-bitcoin-nfl-offensive-tackle-russell-okung-considered-the-highest-paid-in-the-league\/\">estimated<\/a> that Okung was the highest-paid player in the NFL. Other professional athletes are also looking into getting paid in cryptocurrencies as a myriad of announcements has been made this year.<\/p>\n<p>England\u2019s Premier League soccer team, the Southampton Football Club, now has the option to get <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/english-football-club-signs-sponsorship-deal-that-includes-option-of-being-paid-bonuses-in-bitcoin\/\">bonuses paid in BTC<\/a>. The American professional stock car racing driver, Landon Cassill, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/nascar-driver-landon-cassill-to-be-paid-in-cryptocurrency\/\">told the public<\/a> in June that for the remainder of the NASCAR season he was going to be paid in crypto.<\/p>\n<p>No. 1 NFL Draft Pick Trevor Lawrence claimed he converted his entire signing bonus to cryptocurrencies according to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/no-1-nfl-draft-pick-trevor-lawrence-signing-bonus-cryptocurrencies\/\">reports<\/a>. The Kansas City Chiefs NFL player, Sean Culkin, also <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/nfl-player-kansas-city-chiefs-sean-culkin-convert-100-salary-to-bitcoin\/\">said<\/a> he would convert all of his salary to bitcoin this year. The American professional basketball team, the Sacramento Kings, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/nba-team-sacramento-kings-players-salary-paid-in-bitcoin\/\">detailed<\/a> it will offer everyone in its organization the option of having their salary paid in bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Saquon Barkley was named the NFL\u2019s Offensive Rookie of the Year during his first season and he\u2019s also been doing commercials for the multimedia streaming firm Hulu.
