Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey have agreed to have \u201cthe talk\u201d at the bitcoin event called \u201cThe B Word,\u201d which aims to show institutional investors how they can embrace bitcoin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elon Musk vs. Jack Dorsey at Bitcoin Event<\/h2>\n

Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk and Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey have agreed to have a discussion at a bitcoin event called \u201cThe B Word<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to its website, The B Word event will take place on July 21. It is a \u201cBitcoin focused initiative that aims to demystify and destigmatize mainstream narratives about Bitcoin, explain how institutions can and should embrace it, and raise awareness around areas of the network that need support,\u201d its website details.<\/p>\n

Dorsey, who will be a featured speaker at the event, tweeted promoting the event on Thursday. \u201cAs more companies and institutions get into the mix, we all want to help protect and spread what makes bitcoin open development so perfect. This day is focused on education and actions to do just that,\u201d the Twitter CEO wrote.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Musk replied to Dorsey\u2019s tweet: \u201cBicurious?\u201d The Tesla CEO appeared to be commenting on what \u201cB\u201d stands for in the event\u2019s name. He later tweeted: \u201cOh right \u2026 Bitcoin haha.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding to Musk, Dorsey wrote: \u201cBizarre! Let\u2019s you and I have a conversation at the event. You can share all your curiosities\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Replying to Dorsey\u2019s suggestion of \u201cLet\u2019s have the talk,\u201d Musk agreed and wrote: \u201cFor the Bitcurious? Very well then, let\u2019s do it.\u201d Dorsey followed up with: \u201cDone! Will set up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many people are excited that Musk will talk about bitcoin with Dorsey, although neither has clarified what the talk will actually be about.<\/p>\n

Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood, who will also be a featured speaker at The B Word event, tweeted:<\/p>\n

Brilliant. Looking forward to the discussion.<\/p>\n

Wood and Dorsey have taken the view that bitcoin mining can help the environment while Musk thinks that the activity harms the environment. Wood\u2019s investment company, Ark Invest, and Square have jointly published a report arguing that bitcoin mining is net positive<\/a> for the environment.<\/p>\n

Tesla invested $1.5 billion in bitcoin in the first quarter and began accepting<\/a> the cryptocurrency for payments in March. However, Musk said in May that the electric car company had halted<\/a> accepting BTC<\/a> citing environmental concerns. He then said that Tesla will begin accepting bitcoin<\/a> again \u201cWhen there\u2019s confirmation of reasonable (~50%) clean energy usage by miners with positive future trend.\u201d However, his requirement may be complicated<\/a> to verify.<\/p>\n

Many people have tried to convince Musk that he has been misinformed about the environmental effects of bitcoin, including Shark Tank star Mark Cuban. The owner of the NBA team Dallas Mavericks explained to Musk that accepting bitcoin is actually good for the environment<\/a>. The Tesla CEO also talked<\/a> to North American bitcoin miners with the help of Microstrategy CEO Michael Saylor. The miners subsequently set up<\/a> a bitcoin mining council.<\/p>\n
