{"id":13962,"date":"2021-11-04T23:54:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-04T23:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyucoin.com\/crypto-labs\/us-senator-proposes-congress-adopt-cryptocurrency-for-payments\/"},"modified":"2021-11-04T23:54:16","modified_gmt":"2021-11-04T23:54:16","slug":"us-senator-proposes-congress-adopt-cryptocurrency-for-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyucoin.com\/crypto-labs\/us-senator-proposes-congress-adopt-cryptocurrency-for-payments\/","title":{"rendered":"US Senator Proposes Congress Adopt Cryptocurrency for Payments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has introduced a resolution that would position Congress to lead in the area of cryptocurrency by having congressional cafeterias, vending machines, and gift shops accept crypto payments. \u201cCongress is typically slow to adopt new technology,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Senator Pushes for Crypto Adoption in Congress<\/h2>\n<p>U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has introduced a resolution titled \u201cAdopting Cryptocurrency in Congress as an Exchange of Payment for Transactions Resolution,\u201d also referred to as \u201cACCEPT Resolution,\u201d in the Senate Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution proposes cryptocurrency be accepted at \u201crestaurants, vending machines, and gift shops in the Capitol Complex.\u201d According to the text of the resolution:<\/p>\n<p>The Architect of the Capitol, the Secretary of the Senate, and the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives shall each \u2026 solicit and enter into contracts to provide food service and vending machines in such Capitol Buildings with persons that will accept digital assets as payment for goods.<\/p>\n<p>They shall also \u201cencourage the gift shops in such Capitol Buildings to accept digital assets as payment for goods,\u201d the resolution adds.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/01\/exclusive-sen-ted-cruz-proposes-to-increase-cryptocurrency-awareness-acceptance-in-congress\/\">told<\/a> Breitbart News Monday that Congress can lead in the area of cryptocurrencies by adopting them as payment and increasing crypto awareness in Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs consumers better understand and embrace cryptocurrency, merchants are increasingly accepting crypto as a payment method.
