The chief executive officer of the world\u2019s largest asset manager, Blackrock, says he is \u201cmore on the Jamie Dimon camp\u201d when asked whether he thinks bitcoin is worthless. However, the executive says he is fascinated by people\u2019s interest in crypto and sees \u201ca huge role for a digitized currency.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Blackrock\u2019s CEO Sides With JPMorgan\u2019s Jamie Dimon on the Value of Bitcoin<\/h2>\n

Larry Fink, the CEO of the world\u2019s largest asset manager with $9.5 trillion in assets under management, Blackrock, answered some questions about cryptocurrency, particularly bitcoin, in an interview with CNBC Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He was asked whether he was \u201cstill in the Jamie Dimon\u2019s category of \u2018bitcoin is worthless’\u201d or whether he saw value in the cryptocurrency. Dimon, the CEO of global investment bank JPMorgan, said<\/a> earlier this week: \u201cI personally think that bitcoin is worthless.\u201d He also questioned the limited supply of the cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n

The Blackrock executive replied:<\/p>\n

I am probably more on the Jamie Dimon camp. But I am fascinated by so many people\u2019s interest. It\u2019s fantastic. I love the fact that more people are looking to invest in different things. I believe this is a very good, positive action.<\/p>\n

Fink added: \u201cI\u2019m not a student of bitcoin and where it\u2019s going to go. I can\u2019t tell you whether it\u2019s going to be going to $80,000 or zero.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the CEO opined: \u201cBut I do believe there is a huge role for a digitized currency. And I believe that\u2019s going to help consumers worldwide, whether it\u2019s bitcoin or something else, or more of a governmental official digital currency, a digital dollar \u2014 that will play out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Blackrock executive further explained that he is fascinated by \u201cthe great new technology.\u201d Noting that \u201cIt\u2019s attracted so many people,\u201d he expressed: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic seeing how people have become so fascinated about it, that they are showing interest in this. Whether this is going to play out well in the long run, we\u2019ll see.\u201d Fink concluded:<\/p>\n

I see huge opportunities in a digitized crypto, blockchain-related currency, and that\u2019s where I think it\u2019s going and that\u2019s going to create some big winners and some big losers.<\/p>\n
