{"id":12792,"date":"2021-10-03T15:54:10","date_gmt":"2021-10-03T15:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyucoin.com\/crypto-labs\/joe-biden-us-bringing-30-countries-together-to-stop-illicit-use-of-cryptocurrency\/"},"modified":"2021-10-03T15:54:10","modified_gmt":"2021-10-03T15:54:10","slug":"joe-biden-us-bringing-30-countries-together-to-stop-illicit-use-of-cryptocurrency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyucoin.com\/crypto-labs\/joe-biden-us-bringing-30-countries-together-to-stop-illicit-use-of-cryptocurrency\/","title":{"rendered":"Joe Biden: US Bringing 30 Countries Together to Stop \u2018Illicit Use of Cryptocurrency\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>President Joe Biden says that the U.S. will bring together 30 countries to stop \u201cthe illicit use of cryptocurrency.\u201d The United States is \u201cpartnering closely with nations around the world\u201d to respond to the cybersecurity threats, Biden further said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>US Will Bring 30 Countries Together to Combat Illicit Use of Crypto, Says Biden<\/h2>\n<p>The White House released a statement by President Joe Biden Friday on the government\u2019s cybersecurity efforts as October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden explained that the U.S. is \u201cpartnering closely with nations around the world\u201d to respond to the cybersecurity threats, \u201cincluding our NATO allies and G7 partners.\u201d He added that this month:<\/p>\n<p>The United States will bring together 30 countries to accelerate our cooperation in combating cybercrime, improving law enforcement collaboration, stemming the illicit use of cryptocurrency, and engaging on these issues diplomatically.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Federal government needs the partnership of every American and every American company in these efforts. We must lock our digital doors \u2014 by encrypting our data and using multifactor authentication, for example\u2014and we must build technology securely by design, enabling consumers to understand the risks in the technologies they buy,\u201d Biden continued.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. president opined: \u201cI am committed to strengthening our cybersecurity by hardening our critical infrastructure against cyberattacks, disrupting ransomware networks, working to establish and promote clear rules of the road for all nations in cyberspace, and making clear we will hold accountable those that threaten our security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration has been increasing efforts to fight ransomware. In September, the U.S. Department of the Treasury <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/us-treasury-targets-crypto-exchanges-whole-of-government-effort-counter-ransomware\/\">announced<\/a> \u201ca set of actions focused on disrupting criminal networks and virtual currency exchanges responsible for laundering ransoms\u201d as part of the whole-of-government effort to counter ransomware.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/bis-cryptocurrencies-financial-crimes-money-laundering-ransomware-attacks\/\">said<\/a> in June that in many cases, cryptocurrencies \u201care used to facilitate money laundering, ransomware attacks, and other financial crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What do you think about President Joe Biden\u2019s efforts to stop \u201cthe illicit use of cryptocurrency\u201d?
