Following this year\u2019s hype toward the meme-based digital currency dogecoin, a team of developers revealed the launch of an augmented reality (AR) mobile game called \u201cDogemon Go.\u201d Similar to the AR game Pok\u00e9mon Go, players catch virtual characters dubbed \u201cDogemons\u201d and while characters level up they can earn dogecoin for rewards. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Catching Dogemon and Earning DOGE<\/h2>\n

There\u2019s a new mobile phone video game that leverages augmented reality (AR) and the crypto asset dogecoin (DOGE)<\/a>. The crypto community caught a whiff of the Dogemon Go game last month when the project\u2019s official Twitter page started tweeting<\/a> about the new game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The developers of the AR mobile game recently revealed<\/a> that the game has been launched for iOS devices and an Android application is currently being constructed. The project\u2019s website welcomes visitors to the game and also includes a map of the AR playing field. The web portal dogemongo.com<\/a> says:<\/p>\n

Start now and catch your first Dogemon. Combine the playing experience with your favourite Dogemons. Start catching Dogemons today [and] if you\u2019re a great trainer, you can find cryptocurrency as prey among other Dogemons. The Dogemons are waiting for you \u2013 start now and catch them all!<\/p>\n

Privacy Concerns and Dogemon\u2019s \u2018Advertising Paradise\u2019<\/h2>\n

The application on the Apple App Store shows the game was developed by a programmer named Shemie Suarez. The website explains the game was produced by a team called Frozen Limited and the website hosts a video trailer<\/a> of the game as well.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Some people may choose not to play the game due to privacy concerns, because to register to play requires either a Google account, Facebook account, or the option to leverage an Apple ID. Pok\u00e9mon Go also requires one of these accounts to play the AR game. Once the player gets the game going, they are allowed to customize their trainer\u2019s avatar.<\/p>\n

The Dogemon game doesn\u2019t have any reviews or ratings due to the fact that it is so new. While the graphics on Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/a> are better, the Pok\u00e9mon game doesn\u2019t offer in-game cryptocurrency rewards. On the Dogemon Go web portal, the developers say that the game can be an \u201cadvertising paradise\u201d for those who want their \u201cproject, token\/coin\u201d advertised within the augmented reality map.<\/p>\n

While people with Android devices don\u2019t have the ability to leverage the Google Play store, the devs have created a direct download APK for those who can\u2019t wait.<\/p>\n
