Shark Tank star Kevin O\u2019Leary, aka Mr. Wonderful, is increasing his cryptocurrency allocation. He is also taking an equity stake in the FTX crypto exchange and has signed a multi-year deal to become its ambassador and spokesperson. He will be paid in crypto for his services.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kevin O\u2019Leary Increasing His Crypto Allocation<\/h2>\n

Shark Tank\u2019s Kevin O\u2019Leary has revealed that he is increasing his cryptocurrency allocation. He tweeted<\/a> Tuesday:<\/p>\n

Finally solved my compliance problems with cryptocurrencies. I\u2019m going to use FTX to increase my allocation and use the platform to manage my portfolios.<\/p>\n

His tweet followed FTX Trading Ltd. and West Realm Shires Services Inc., owners and operators of FTX.com and FTX.us respectively, announcing \u201ca long-term relationship\u201d with O\u2019Leary.<\/p>\n

Mr. Wonderful will be taking an equity stake in both companies and will be \u201cpaid in crypto to serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for FTX,\u201d the announcement details, adding:<\/p>\n

He has asked that his compensation for these services be paid in crypto assets and be managed on the FTX platform.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, O\u2019Leary told gold bug Peter Schiff that the reason he is increasing his crypto allocation is because he is making money with it.<\/p>\n

Schiff accused<\/a> CNBC of relentlessly pumping bitcoin when the media network called O\u2019Leary \u201ca long-time crypto proponent.\u201d Schiff claimed: \u201cThat\u2019s a lie. He was a long-time crypto skeptic, who recently changed his tune after getting involved in crypto related companies. He\u2019s just a paid shill.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Leary responded by telling Schiff to \u201cget over it,\u201d adding that when facts changed, he changed. The Shark Tank star further revealed, \u201cI\u2019m increasing my cryptocurrency allocation because I\u2019m making money with it. It\u2019s that simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Regarding crypto compliance, O\u2019Leary opined: \u201cInstitutional investors struggle with the decision to invest in crypto assets, not because they don\u2019t want to, but because they have difficulty in knowing with certainty that they will be 100% compliant with regulators and reporting requirements. I am no different.\u201d He concluded:<\/p>\n

I want to increase my crypto exposure but also serve my compliance mandates.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Leary said in February that he invested 3% of his portfolio<\/a> in bitcoin and ether, noting that cryptocurrencies are \u201chere to stay.\u201d<\/p>\n
