As Norton, a world leader in consumer cybersecurity announced the launch of a new feature targeted at allowing users to mine cryptocurrency with only a few clicks, the next generation of PCs may include crypto mining capabilities.
According to Gagan Singh, chief product officer of Norton Life Lock, the function allows the company’s PCs to turn idle time “into an opportunity to earn digital currency.”
The company reckons that many coin miners compromise the safety of their devices in their quest for cryptocurrency. They disable the security features in their devices to run combining that can allow malicious code to run on their machines. These codes can even plant ransomware leading to hard drive failures that can cause miners’ earnings stored on hard drives to be lost, Norton said.
“Providing people with the option to mine Crypto on their personal desktop/laptop will be a game-changer for a truly decentralized system. Utilizing idle computer resources for mining is the same as utilizing sunlight for solar energy, it is in abundance we just have to connect the dots”. said Devesh Aggarwal, CTO, BuyUcoin.
